Product fail

This is a roundup of some products that did not work on me sadly because i wanted to love them.

  • MAC studio finish concealer NC30- It is extremely dry and cakey, applying it with fingers do not work since i pull on my skin too much even after warming it with my fingers. I applied it it under my eyes with my MAC #224 the pixiwoo way, and it still doesnt work, settles in my fine lines, doesnt last long, looks cakey and messy, dry and gross all together. If you zoom on my picture you can see what im talking about, i really wanted to like this product because everyone raves about it but it just doesnt do it for me. I also need to point out, i do not have bad under eye circles and that i always use an eye cream beforehand.

  • MAC satin taupe- Such a classic and cult shade which looks stunning on most people, just not on me. I look a bit dirty with it and i have the impression it does nothing to my face, on the opposite of Mulch which lifts my complexion. The formula is however great and buttery so i highly recommend it because it looks good on 99,9% of people! I still try to rock it sometimes, and give it a second chance but i am aware it doesnt really work on me. I am now on the haunt for the best taupe shade, having in mind Guerlain, armani and bunny rouge.

  • Max factor false lash effect mascara-  It's not the worst mascara i have tried but i won't be repurchasing for sure. It adds no drama to my lashes and no length either and it weights them down a bit. I have short lashes and not very full so i need all the boost i can get, and this mascara provides just  a bit of volume which is more concentrated at the roots of the lashes if that makes sense. It doesn't clump terribly and it flakes just a bit at the end of the day. I still prefer my YSL faux cils and Korres mascara. Next i want to try Clinique high impact.
I am wearing all the products on the picture.

What are the products you wanted to love but did not work for you?

  2. And I always thought that Satin taupe and Studio finish concealer were completely faultless on everyone! That's good to know. I haven't tried these products, so this post helps a lot ;)

Personally, I wanted to love Creme d'nude lipstick -after looking at all those rave reviews on Youtube and blogger- but it looks too "concealer-nude" on me... I only wear it by dabbing it on my lips and topping it with a pink gloss.

  3. i love satin taupe but only wear it in my crease if that helps! oh and pro longwear is pretty nice and long lasting so you may prefer that, just dont use too much and it lasts ages! x

  4. I hate that satin taupe doesn't work on you. It has the same effect on one of my friends. Such a great color but it depends on the skintone.

  5. I think its quite hilarious that you went through the trouble of putting on these hated products and took a picture for us! you are such a dedicated blogger ;)

  6. ohh haha I see! thanks for the compliment :) I let my hair air dry naturally, then I take a 1 inch curling iron and wrap around it a few random sections of hair, just to make it look more va-vooom, haha. i usually do like 5 random sections, and only wrap it around the curling iron, not clip in in (makes a huge difference on my hair).

I know, I love raybans and I own like 5 pairs that I wear to death. these DVF ones are the only ones that arent raybans, but I knew it was time to try something different!

oh and the Chanel im using isnt liquid, not quite sure which one youre talking about, but maybe the color comes in both types. its VERY creamy though, not drying like my MACs.

anyway sorry for the longest comment ever! x

  7. Aw it's too bad that Satin Taupe doesn't work for you! =( I mainly use the Studio Finish concealer for spots if I get some, it covers those up nicely =)

  9. I just wrote a review on the Mac Studio finish it works amazing on acne scars.. I do use it for my udner eye as well and I don't find it to be too drying.. Apply a good eye cream beforehand.. and after a few minutes, apply the concealer.. But be careful to not over do it.. Coz that's when it'll look cakey..

When I first got satin taupe I was like seriously? What is the big deal?! Yah it's a nice colour but serisouly people calm down.. It's really not THAT great..

  10. Oh what a shame they don't work for you, especially Satin Taupe which is a lot of people's favourite. I'm not sure if you have the brand The Makeup Store where you are, but they do a pretty good taupe (called Velvet), which is a bit less dirty as you called it.

Oh and a product I wish I liked but I don't is Nars Turkish Delight, it just looks ridiculous on me, like I'm trying to look like a school girl.

  11. I totally agree with you on the False lash effect Mascara! I don't own one myself, but when I do makeup on my sister she always wants me to use hers and it is not good! I does nothing for her lashes.

Sorry about the studio finish concealer. I have been thinking about buying it for quite a long time, but I hesitate because I'a afraid it will have the effect that you're talking about. I use the MAC Pro Longwear right now and that's really good!

I got really disappointed of the Lancome L'extreme mascara. So many people love it, but there's really nothing extreme about that mascara. Quite boring if you ask me...

  12. Oh it's always such a horrible feeling when you want to wear something so bad and it doesn't work on you. My sister brought me a beautiful chanel powder compact for my birthday last year but it just didn't look right, it was too dry and too pale even though I'm ridiculously pale myself. Sad moment ha-ha x

  13. Oh that sucks, such a shame when they don't turn out! I also tried that mascara and I also thought it was a bust!

  17. I have MAC Sation Taupe too, at first I thought it didn't work on me as well, but know I figured out a way to make it look good on me :D I'm so happy it isn't a waste of money since MAC is expensive

  18. Hmm, yes, I've heard a couple of ppl didn't like this concealer either, for the same exact reasons!
But I'm not sure I agree with you on Satin Taupe, I think it looks just fine, perhaps you can layer it/pair it with some other shadow to make it look more special? :)

  19. You sure know a lot about make-up, unlike me. I just don't know even how to put it on, and if I do, I only put a couple of products and always the same ones (as you saw on my post). A make-up artist in a shop the other day gave me a make-over and I looked amazing! but he knew what he was doing. It's the picture on my profile actually, he did that make up. But I only put a bit of concealer and a blush. Red of course. I found a MAC red blush and I've been using that only. But I'm afraid to use anything on my eyes because they're super sensitive and I don't want to get infections. I've heard Clinique is anti-allergenic but I'm still worried.
